Abstract: Boron is a kind of fuel obstinately searched for high-performance air-breathing solid rocket/ramjet engine and ramjet engine.Since 1980’s a great interest in boron fuel has been taken in conventional solid rocket propulsion.In this paper the worldwide investigation on boron used as a component of prope-llant is described.It is pointed out that to use boron as a main component of propellant, we should solve the problems such as the consistence of commertial boron powder with adhesive of propellant, the composition technology of propellant, the combustion efficiency of boron and so on.To Improve the combustion efficiency up to a practically acceptable level, not only propellant composition but also,more importantly, proper organization of combustion in engines and optimization of combustion parameters are needed to design well-conceivedly.
