Abstract: To study the effect of laser flux on impulse coupling coefficient during the interaction between hydrogen fluoride laser and aluminum at air ambient and in vacuum, respectively,by changing laser spot size on the aluminum target, the relationship between impulse coupling coefficient and laser flux is obtained, which are compared with the interaction between CO2 laser and aluminum. The results indicate that relationship between hydrogen fluoride laser and aluminum is different from that between CO2 laser and aluminum. The threshold of impulse transfer between hydrogen fluoride laser and aluminum is 8.03×106 W/cm2 and 7.69×106 W/cm2 at air ambient and in vacuum, respectively. And both in the two conditions, the highest impulse coupling coefficient in the interaction between hydrogen fluoride laser and aluminum is greater than that between CO2 laser and aluminum.
