Abstract: In order to solve the problem that the exhaust gas turbocharger cannot work normally due to the navigation at reduced speed, the marine main engine usually adopt auxiliary blower to conduct supplementary scavenging to improve the manoeuvrability of the ship at reduced speed and reduce the emission. This paper firstly reviewed the research situation of electric auxiliary turbocharger, and then introduced in detail a series of group research work on axial electric auxiliary turbocharger. The performance parameters and flow characteristics of the prototype electric auxiliary turbocharger were introduced respectively. From the perspective of controlling clearance flow and further exploiting potentialities of the prototype, the effects of axisymmetric endwall and partial winglets on the performance of electrically assisted turbocharger and its mechanism were investigated. Finally, the problems and challenges of the axial electric auxiliary turbocharger were listed, and the following research plan and future development were prospected.
Key words: Electric auxiliary turbocharger;Axisymmetric endwall;Winglets;Compressor rotor;Optimum design
